PRESS RELEASE: SAPPERS GIVEN ACCESS TO DEFLOG VQ TRUST LEARNING CENTRES

Under the terms of an agreement between the Royal Engineers Vocational Education & Training Trust (REVETT) and the DEFLOG VQ TRUST, Royal Engineers personnel now have access to the 12 Learning Resource Centres (LRCs) operated by the DEFLOG VQ TRUST subject to the following conditions:

  • DEFLOG VQ TRUST learners must always have priority use of the facilities.

  • Where Royal Engineers personnel require courses such as the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) or others available through LearnDirect, they may enrol at and receive support from any of the following 6 DEFLOG VQ TRUST LRCs:

    • Aldershot

    • Bielefeld

    • Hullavington

    • Abingdon

    • Colchester

    • Marchwood

  • Where Royal Engineers personnel require the use of facilities such as internet or e-mail, they must contact the DEFLOG VQ TRUST LRC concerned and book the necessary facilities in advance.

  • Where Royal Engineers personnel receive a service from a DEFLOG VQ TRUST LRC for which there is an unavoidable charge, eg where there is a course or examination fee not funded by another organisation, the individuals concerned are responsible personally for paying it. In some case such fees may be recovered either through the Army’s Standard Learning Credit (SLC) system or from REVETT, but only if arranged in advance in accordance with applicable Regulations. However, many courses and tests may be provided free of charge.

  • Royal Engineers personnel accessing DEFLOG VQ TRUST LRCs are to comply with all verbal and written instructions relating to use of such facilities, including directions and requests from LRC staff. LRC staff and equipment are to be treated with respect.

  • Learning commitments given are to be honoured in full unless genuine operational, medical or compassionate reasons prevent this, in which case LRC staff must be notified promptly in advance.

  • Appointments made must be kept or properly rescheduled or cancelled by contacting staff of the LRC concerned in advance.

This is an exciting development and REVETT and its RE CPD Team are most grateful to the management and staff of the DEFLOG VQ TRUST for this generous offer.

It is hoped that, when REVETT opens its RE CPD Learning & Advice Centres (LAC), reciprocal provision for DEFLOG VQ TRUST learners will be possible.

Act now! Don't miss out! - offer only available until the 30 September 2008.

In the light of a recent review the Open University (OU) Business School have agreed to temporarily re-instate accreditation of ICSC(L) towards the OU MBA programme. The accreditation will provide 30 points towards the elective part of Stage 2 of the OU MBA programme. The following eligibility criteria applies:

Applicants must have attended and completed ICSC(L) prior to 31 Dec 07.

The offer is guaranteed for all ICSC(L) graduates who are currently registered with the OU and currently studying the OU MBA programme, regardless of whether they are sponsored through the Modular Masters Programme (MMP)or not. Individuals registered under the MMP should refer to the OU’s Credit Transfer website, at www3.open.ac.uk/credit-transfer/index.shtm application information. The Open University Business School will write to those individuals registered under the MMP to highlight this opportunity. However, individuals should not wait to receive a letter and all must personally apply in writing immediately. Those NOT registered for the MMP will NOT receive a letter from the OU and must therefore personally apply direct in writing immediately to the OU’s Masters Programme Director, Mr Richard Wheatcroft. Contact details are: 01908 655851 or email r.h.wheatcroft@open.ac.uk. These individuals are guaranteed to receive the accreditation. However, their applications must be passed through the Masters Programme Office to ensure they are accepted under this temporary re-instatement as their names will not be on the MMP list given to the Credit Transfer department.

ICSC(L) graduates who attended and completed the course prior to 31 Dec 07, but have NOT yet registered with the OUbut intend to do so in the future, are very strongly encouraged to apply direct in writing to the OU’s Masters Programme Director, Mr Richard Wheatcroft (contact details above). Mr Wheatcroft will assess these applications favourably (within the discretion allowed to him under Open University Regulations) and a decision will be made on an individual case by case basis. Again, individuals should apply immediately.
