The first two awards in Command, Leadership and Management (CLM) open to RE personnel are:
The ILM Introductory Certificate in Team leading on unit-run JNCO Cadres.
The ILM Certificate in Team Leading on Junior Command Courses at the RSME.
Both of these are sponsored and funded by REVETT through the RE CPD Team.
Subsequent CLM accreditation opportunities are provided by HQ DETS (A) via generic Army CLM programmes operating in Army Education Centres (AEC). Details of these may be found in the following publications: please click on the pictures below to download the brochures. Please bear in mind that these files are large and may take some time to download.

This scheme has been developed for those personnel who have not had the opportunity to gain civilian recognition for their management and leadership training. The scheme comprises a Leadership and Management Development Award which indicates the level of training achieved by virtue of rank, and is mapped against the Vocationally Related Qualification on the National Qualifications Framework which is currently available for personnel who are attending their promotion training. The award also comprises direct entry into professional body Membership of the Institute of Leadership and Management at the level gained by training achieved as well as experience within rank.
This national recognition of training and experience will allow a prospective employer, futher/higher educational body or professional institute to understand both the level of training as well as the experience achieved in management and leadership.
The cost must be borne by the individual.

08/09/06The Further Education National Consortium (FENC)is a charitable body launched in 1991. It began as a consortium of further education colleges but now offers its products and services to any organisation involved in education. It produces high quality and up-to-date learning resources and, as a collaborative organisation, involves experienced and highly-qualified educators in every aspect of its work, from delivery of learning solutions to the sharing of best practice. FENC has developed at a phenomenal rate over recent years and now offers a comprehensive range of 'Blended Learning' products that are designed to meet the needs of both teachers and learners.
Amongst its other services, FENC provides its fee-paying members with access to sophisticated web-based education and training resources, including:
Although FENC material is copyright, member organizations and their authorized staff can use (and even edit) programmes and documents with their own learners. Material must not be passed, hired or sold on outside the member organization.
In 2000, the Royal Engineers Vocational Education & Training Trust (REVETT) became one of the first organisations from outside the further education community to become a full member of FENC. As a result, those involved in the training of Royal Engineers can become approved users of the FENC materials. There are 4 levels of user, each with varying rights and responsibilities within the FENC web application:
| User Level | Rights | |
| User | Can open resources | |
| Author | Can create new items in the account and edit or delete their own items | |
| Editor | Can create, edit or delete any item belonging to the account | |
| Administrator | Can create, edit or delete items and users belonging to the account |
Senior trainers working with Royal Engineers may apply in writing for their teams to become FENC website users. Applications should give a justification for FENC access and list all proposed users, stating each individual's rank/grade, job title, contact details and required level of use. Individuals involved in the training of Royal Engineers may also apply on the same basis.
Applications should be sent to:
